Your memories of the old porta-cabin club shop
|
I remember going in there some time in the early 80's and Sir Trev was in there signing stuff.

I will always associate the porta-cabins with West Ham tour t-shirts. Sky blue t-shirt with claret club crest on the front breast and the whole seasons fixture list printed on the back.
Class.

I see Sir Trev most weekends in the gym at the Brentwood Centre, around 9/10am..looks great for his age and happy to chat to people.
Just does his 30 minutes on the cross trainer or treadmill and off he goes. Heat to toe in his england kit..

Pacing up and down it confused by the choices. The ladies who worked in it always had kind faces, unlike the miserable spotty Herbert's in the club shop now.

I wore my grandad's rosette from the '64 Final to Cardiff in 2006.
What a fucking big help it was...

Good for Subbuteo that place was. My first ever bank account (Barclays Supersaver) was opened just opposite.

Was always amazed considering the era it was around in, that no opposition fans ever set it on fire.
Health and Safety would never allow it nowadays.

Got my first claret and blue scarf that I still have today (modern football scarves are shit), and a great big West Ham rosette!
A rosette, how gay would that be now?
